Data Understood is a specialist Data & AI consultancy, rooted in Scotland and working with ambitious organisations across the UK. Our work is research led, delivered in partnership with client teams, and judged on whether decisions actually improve.
The work
We are a small, senior team, so the work is varied and you are close to the people making decisions: analysts, engineers, operational leads and executives. Everyone here works directly with clients.
Engagements span data strategy, platforms and engineering, analytics and AI, governance and research led dataset work. You will be trusted with real responsibility on live engagements, with senior support close at hand.

How we work
Data is a team sport. We work alongside our clients and each other, sharing our thinking, listening to different perspectives and challenging ideas without judgement.
We start by understanding what a client is trying to achieve, then choose the approach. That means understanding their organisation and their people, not only their data.
You'll be trusted to take ownership of your work, and we expect you to care about the quality of what you deliver. You'll have clear expectations, honest feedback and senior support when you need it.
You will be encouraged to ask why, listen before jumping to an answer and be open to having your own thinking challenged. Curiosity is how we understand what's really going on and make the work better.
Learning happens on live client work with senior support close by. You'll have the opportunity to build your skills while working on real Data and AI problems.
Being technically right isn't enough if you can't bring people with you. We explain complex things in plain language and adapt how we communicate to the people we're working with, so everyone can contribute to the conversation.
